How does Shift work?
Members use the Shift app to request their next vehicle, including when and where they would like the next vehicle. A Shift concierge will deliver the fresh vehicle, transfer everything over to your new car, and ensure you’re all set to go. Our goal is to ensure you have the perfect car for any occasion.
What is included in a Shift subscription?
Every Shift subscription includes rights to a vehicle, insurance coverage, and hand delivered flips. The Shift concierge team delivers hand detailed vehicles to wherever you request. We take care of all maintenance and repairs so you can focus on driving. Each plan affords you flexibility with monthly mile and flip allotments.
Gold: 1,500 miles/month, 3 flips/month
Unused miles carry over with you month to month (limited to 18,000 miles a year). Any additional miles over your limit cost $.40/mile.
What vehicles are included with Shift?
Shift offers a variety of vehicles including luxury sedans, SUVs, trucks, off-road vehicles, and performance cars.

How does insurance work?
All vehicles provided by Shift are fully insured on a fleet insurance policy held by Shift. All approved drivers are covered by the fleet insurance policy. Coverage highlights:
$1,000 Major Damage Fee for any damage incurred over $1,000
$1,000,000 liability coverage (combined single limit)
$300,000 uninsured motorist (combined)
$2,000 medical payments to offset any out of pocket or deductible costs
How long can I keep a vehicle?
As long as you want!
There are no restrictions on how long or how short your flips can be. Occasionally, when a vehicle has been with a member for many weeks, we might need to ask for it back so that we can do routine tasks like preventive maintenance. However, at worst we’ll flip you into a fresh vehicle that is just like the one you have.
How new are the vehicles?
Gold tier vehicles are the current or prior model year. Each vehicle is detailed before and after it ever goes to a member. Many of our members tell us that every vehicle feels like new!
How do I join Shift?
Download our app here and hit “Sign up”. Follow the instructions to create an account. You will need to provide a credit card, select a plan and provide a picture of your driver’s license. We will verify your information and check your driving history. We may need to speak with you during that process. In most cases, we can approve an application within one business day. Then we will contact you to get you started and schedule your first flip!
Is Shift in my area?
Today, Shift is live in Naperville, IL. If you’re outside of our 50-mile signup area, sign up for news and updates and we will let you know when we arrive in your city.

Who is eligible?
Anyone 21 or over with a valid license and clean driving record.
What should I do with my old vehicle?
The Shift team can help you sell your car! Provide our team with the year, make, model and mileage of your current vehicle by sending us an email at email@example.com or through our sales line at 855-422-0651.
What is the Shift activation fee?
The $500 Shift activation fee is required for all new Shift memberships. The fee is non-refundable and charged when your first delivery is scheduled.
How well equipped are the vehicles?
The majority of vehicles are equipped with a mid to high-end trim package. Most of our vehicles have leather seats. Other options vary by make/model and specific vehicle. We cannot guarantee the availability of certain options.
Are pets allowed in vehicles?
We do allow pets in the vehicles, but they must be transported in a crate. It is better for the car and safer for your furry friend!
What happens if my vehicle needs repair?
Our goal is that you will never have to worry about maintenance or repair issues. If something unforeseen occurs, use the Shift app to notify us and we will get you back driving!
What happens if I get into an accident?
First, make sure that everyone is safe, get your vehicle to a safe place, exchange information with the other parties and notify the police. Once the situation is stabilized call us. We will bring you a fresh vehicle and handle everything with respect to the vehicle involved in the incident.
How much advance notice is required for a flip?
While we ask for a 3-hour notice, the best experience is to book a few days in advance.
Booking a vacation? Go ahead and book your flip too. Need something this afternoon? Don't stress, we will bring you the best option available.
Do I tip the concierge?
Shift does not allow tipping. Concierge delivery is part of the overall Shift member experience and included with the monthly subscription. If you have an exceptional Concierge experience feel free to reflect it in the service rating or by letting the team know.
Where can I find the insurance card?
View a digital version of your insurance card under Your current ride on the home screen of your shift app. Hard copies of the insurance card can also be found in the glovebox.
What about fuel?
All Shift cars are delivered with a full tank of gas. If you flip a vehicle without a full tank, your concierge will refill the vehicle and add the charge to your account following your flip.
When is payment due?
A valid credit card is required during sign up. Your first payment will be charged when we confirm delivery of your first vehicle. Subsequent payments will be charged on a monthly basis, in advance. Any additional charges for gas or upgrades will be charged as soon as the flip ends.
What is the minimum commitment to Shift?
Shift is a monthly subscription service. Pay for the first 31 days and give it a try. If you like it, your subscription will renew automatically monthly after the first period. If you ever want to cancel, just let us know and we will end your subscription after your current month has expired.
Can I pause my subscription?
Yes. Going out of town? Love Shift but need a break? Just pause your Shift account and have one less monthly bill covering something you're not even using. No lease or loan allows that! Pause your Shift account for any number of days for a $200 convenience fee. Then pick right back up where you left off for no additional charge!
Can anyone else drive the vehicle?
Yes, eligible drivers may be registered as Additional Drivers and added to the member’s account.
Are members responsible for their Shift car?
Yes, we expect our members to take care of Shift vehicles as if they owned them. Please drive responsibly, keep your vehicle clean, and let us know of any minor dings or spills via the Shift app.
What is the condition of Shift vehicles?
Shift is committed to delivering vehicles that are in excellent condition. To that end, we use technology to ensure that the vehicles are properly maintained and driven responsibly.
